Our world is a scary place today! We are seeing killings and violence every where! People having verbal arguments about even what the cause is for the violence! The cause to me is very simple: hate! We need to start loving each other more! Love conquers all! Let’s start today!
Life has been great lately! I am being included in a lot of wonderful things! I participated in a transitional workshop! Then the following week I had my speech read by my cousin at the Giant Steps auction. I am on a roll that I hope never ends!
I wrote the keynote speech for the Giant Steps auction! People really liked it! Giant Steps made money! They thought my speech was wonderful! No one talked during the speech! Both the emcee and the auctioneer had misty eyes! Many had actually been crying! My table cried too! More times than you can count people complimented my speech! It was the best night of my life!
i have come a little long way the last couple of years! I have a hard time remembering what my life was like before RPM! I struggled to get my needs met! I did not know how to communicate! I struggled in every way! I now can let people know what is on my mind! Let’s grow together!
I had a graduation party on March 5! It was a wonderful occasion for me! I had many friends and family there! The place was beautiful, the food was great, and the company was even better! I felt very special! I loved every part about it! I just wish I had more time to thank my guests! I also hope for the day when all with autism can experience what I did at my party! I know that too many have no voice and they need a voice! I look forward to the day that occurs!
It is hard for those of us with autism to be always at our best! We have trouble with being able to motivate ourselves when our minds and bodies are not in sync with each other! We also have difficulty conforming to others standards! I try to please everyone, but sometimes I let people down! We sometimes are thought to be resistant and difficult , but no one knows how hard it can be to get our minds and bodies to work together! Please be patient and understanding with those of us with autism and do not give up on us!
I’m trying to keep just my loving parents pleased! They are my most trusting advocates! Both parents are working RPM with me and I’m moving forward. You should RPM every day! Talking helps my best friend make better choices! Teach people RPM!
Today I was doing chemistry homework! My cousin, Paul, is teaching me! I am learning about atoms, elements, compounds, and what makes up the universe! It is amazing and wonderful how complex God’s creating is! I feel this knowledge is so terrific and opens a new world to me! We can all grow so much with learning about the world!
I will be graduating from Giant Steps on December 4, 2015. I have been a student there since I was six years old! Giant Steps is a school for children and adults with autism! It has been the center of my life for 16 years! My daily routine has always involved Giant Steps! I really appreciate all the wonderful staff there! I feel that it takes a special person to help someone with autism! We can push the patience of those around us! I know I have! The staff of Giant Steps have always been patient and kind to me! I have met many wonderful people there! They treated me as an equal! I am going to really miss them! Giant Steps I salute you!
i was at a retreat this weekend and the topic of having the ability to love came up! It was discussed that many people believe that we with autism are not able to express love! This is so wrong! Just because we do not act like others does not mean we do not have the same emotions! We just process differently! We have trouble expressing feelings like others!i have feelings just like everyone else! Please be aware of that when around those of us with autism!
